When the people of a certain town
heard that the military was headed in their direction, and the person leading the charge was a commander most known for his cruelty, everyone fled - except for one old monk. When the commander arrived, he asked the monk, "Why didn't you flee like the others? Don't you know who I am? I'm the one who can run a sword through you without batting an eye."
The old monk looked at him and replied, "My dear friend, I am the one who can have a sword run through him without batting an eye." In that moment, the commander became a disciple of the monk and never again acted with cruelty.
